31. Unfortunately, the purchase price
of this puppy is just the beginning. There are trips to the
vet, costs for vaccinations, boosters and worming. The cost
varies with vets, but $45 per office visit is about average in my
area. I suggest a crate, so the puppy will have a safe place
when you are busy or gone for short periods of time. Depending
on size, crates range from $90 - $150 each. Puppies
will also need many toys and chew bones which cost between $2 and
$20 each. Quality food for your puppy will run about $45 -
$65 per month. All dogs do best if they have some formal training
and puppy kindergarten classes are a wonderful way to begin training
and socialization. They begin when a puppy is about 3 months
old and last 6 - 8 weeks, at an average cost of $40 - $60.
Obedience or conformation classes should follow. Costs for
those range from $40 - $60 for an 8 week course. Are you
willing and able to spend the time and money for proper care and
training for your puppy?
